Grease heads, engine buffs, aviation enthusiasts and speed freaks are in for a double dose of air and land action at the Wings and Wheels motorsport and air show, which takes place at the Ysterplaat Air Force Base in Cape Town on Saturday, 7 and Sunday, 8 December 2013.
The first-of-its-kind aviation and automotive event sees the beloved Ysterplaat air show joining forces with D1S, one of South Africa’s leading motorsport events companies, to create a spectacular display of modern muscle machines. Both young and old speed devotees will be left breathless by exhibitions of contemporary and vintage aircrafts and land vehicles, and will be wowed by arena displays of some of the world’s best and most beautiful cars. Not to mention, viewers can take in action-packed demonstrations by daredevil pros, like local driver Otto Graven, Red Bull’s Brian Capper and members of the Formula Drift USA team.
On the wings side, visitors can expect the skies above to come alive with the hum and buzz of airplanes twisting and turning in unbelievable choreographed aerial displays. Some of the crafts that will be engaging in fast-paced formation flying include the C47TP Dakota, the T-28 Trojan and the Gripen.
“This not-to-be-missed summer event for the whole family will be an awe-inspiring display of power and speed,” says Good Hope FM’s DJ Ready D, who is also one of the co-founders of D1S. “You will be thrilled to hear the roar of engines not only on the ground, but also in the air.”
So, gather the gang and get ready to marvel at the wonder of expertly manoeuvred aircraft and motor vehicles, plus a whole lot more on the ground.
