Justin Bieber in Concert
Bieber Fever is set to hit Cape Town in May 2017
Brace yourself, girls: teenage heartthrob Justin Bieber will be making his way to the Mother City for a live concert at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday, 17 May 2017 and at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday, 14 May 2017. These performances will form part of his Purpose World Tour. Tickets go on sale on Thursday, 15 December 2016 at 9am with prices ranging from R350p/p to R1540p/p.
Hailing from Canada, the pin-up pop star has gone from strength to strength since he was first discovered on YouTube (courtesy of a few homemade videos) at the tender age of 13. His 2009 debut album, ‘My World,’ met with unrivalled success, with a whopping seven of its songs charting on the Billboard Hot 100 (a record for a first release).
The much-loved singer-songwriter has since sold more than 100 million records worldwide and spawned countless hit singles, several of which come off his most recent album release ‘Purpose’, which has sold 3.1 million copies so far.
His hit singles ‘What Do you Mean’, ‘Sorry’ and ‘Love Yourself’ all reached number one on the Billboard Top 200, making Bieber the first male artist in almost a decade to have three number ones from an album!
Not to mention, the pop culture icon and social media superstar – he boasts almost 78 million Facebook fans and over 90 million followers on Twitter – has also raked in an almost endless array of prestigious accolades during his spell on the global music scene.
In addition to being awarded Artist of the Year at the 2010 and 2012 American Music Awards, the teen sensation has also received three Grammy nominations, claimed a number of coveted titles at the MTV Europe Music Awards, and has ultimately been named one of the top ten most powerful celebrity in the world by Forbes magazine, four times.
It’s no doubt to the great delight of masses of Mother City girls (and a whole number of guys too) that the gifted, young artist has committed to perform in South Africa for the second time in the coming year, offering local supporters a rare chance to catch him and his famed infectious tunes live. His Cape Town concert will certainly be one for the books.
The global superstar's opening act has been revealed as Sketchy Bongo; a beloved Durban performer. He has teamed up with SA royalty in the past including Danny K, Locnville and Jimmy Nevis, so his name is synonymous with quality music. We cannot wait for this legend to hit the stage and show Beiber what South Africans are capable of!
