Cape Town Tourism gets the Locals Involved in World Tourism Month

Cape Town Tourism has launched a campaign to encourage locals to experience their city as tourists, in recognition of World Tourism Month, throughout September 2010.
The 'My Cape Town' campaign, supported by the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway and other top city attractions, will distribute half a million Rands worth of free vouchers, plus special offers and competitions.
Cape Town Tourism will also run a series of exciting events at the cities top attractions including; 'My Cape Town Weekend , from 24th-27th September 2010, Celebrating Tourism and Diversity on World Tourism Day and Capture my Cape Town, a photographic and video competition, throughout September.
'My Cape Town Weekend' will offer locals the chance to redeem their vouchers and attend a number of free events including; a 'My Cape Town' Free Concert at the V&A Waterfront, which will feature iScream and the Chocolate Stix, on 24th September 2010; and 'My Cape Town in The Company Gardens', which will feature family-friendly activities, from 24th-25th September 2010.
Cape Town Tourism is running a photographic competition, 'Capture My Cape Town', which is open to amateur and professional photographers. Prizes include; cash prizes totalling R30,000 and Hoerikwaggo Luxury Travel experiences.
The global theme of UNTWO World Tourism Day 2010 is 'tourism and biodiversity'. The 'My Cape Town' campaign will promote environmental awareness throughout the month of September, via healthy leisure activities.
Free and discounted vouchers are available for the following attractions: Table Mountain Aerial Cable Way, City Sightseeing red bus, Two Oceans Aquarium, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Vouchers are valid from 24th September – 31st October 2010.
