Lucky Capetonian Wins Some Tex Action
The ultimate adrenaline rush of a simulated combat flight
Lucky Capetonian, Jaco Carstens, was literally left on the edge of his seat when he won the Tex Cape Town Adventure. Jaco was joined by three friends to experience a pulse racing, simulated combat flight, on a genuine Vietnam Huey Helicopter, from the V&A Waterfront, on 14th August 2010.
The Tex Urban Adventure competition, which kicked off on 24th May, stirred up excitement in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, when a convoy of gorgeous girls, handed out Tex Bars from a yellow jeep. The yellow Tex caravan set up a 3D gaming booth, in which contestants battled it out to win action packed, ‘Big City Kick’ prizes.
Jaco Carstens, from Stellenbosch, was joined by wife, Isle Carstens, and friends; Radley Connor and Alana Kruger, for the closing Tex Urban Adventure – a 30 minute, combat mission adventure. The roller-coaster flight along the West Coast saw the four friends low flying over endless beaches and maneuvering through the Blouberg Hills, with no doors to separate them from Cape Town’s beautiful scenery.
“When you think of helicopter flights you think of them as quite tame,” remarked Jaco on his experience, “but this flight was insane and I certainly felt an adrenaline rush.”
When Jaco and his friends touched down, they were served sparkling wine and issued with a bravery certificate. They were then whisked off in the Tex Jeep Rubicon for a sparkling night out on the town, at Cape Town’s trendy nightlife spot, Fashion TV.
This blood pumping adventure is not the first thing Jaco has won – the competition junky recently won an all expenses paid trip to Thailand. He’s living proof that it’s alright for some.
Other ‘Big City Kick’ prizes included; an 106 metre jump from the worlds only, and largest stadium swing, at the Moses Madiba Stadium; and a jump from the Orlando towers in Soweto.
