Gin-making, tasting and pizza when you have your function at Distiller’s Union

Distiller’s Union is an edgy distillery located in Woodstock that’s great for your next year-end party, team-building, birthday bash or a bachelor/ette. Taste and make your own gin in the heart of a working distillery, plus there’s pizza and cocktails.

CHOOSE YOUR GROUP EXPERIENCE

A gin lover’s dream birthday; CEO’s saving grace; bridesmaid’s lightbulb idea. Distiller’s Union is an epic (and unique) spot for your next big function. You can host a meeting and see behind the scenes of gin making, or book a hands-on experience for your team or friends. 

There are two gin-making experiences your group can choose from. Standard includes a guided gin-making experience, two drinks and a snack plate, along with your own custom-made bottle of gin. Or you can try the Deluxe experience which includes a gin tasting, resin seal, a branded copper straw and edible glitter for your gin.

Alternatively, you could book out the venue and have a pizza party or cocktails on the outdoor deck overlooking Table Mountain. Distiller’s Union can take up to 36 people for gin making or 70 people for corporate events.

MAKE GIN WITH YOUR CREW

Get your Albert Einstein on and work with antique-looking copper pot stills and syringes while calculating your perfect gin. First you choose the flavours you like. The most popular ingredients are rooibos, grapefruit, African wormwood, pink pepper and star anise. There’s also some curious flavours like buchu, chilli and lemongrass. 

The expert distillers recommend choosing between three and 10 ingredients for a balanced gin. Lastly, the ingredients are poured into the still along with the alcoholised ingredients that make up gin.

DESIGN YOUR OWN BRAND

While you're waiting for your gin to distil, you get to design your own brand and label. Whether you want to play it safe with black and white or use every colour in the box, there are no limitations. Go from sleek and professional to arts-and-crafts-gone-wild. Once your gin is ready, you can change the colour to suit whatever look you want.

TASTE HOUSE SPIRITS + GINGER BEER

You can do tastings at Distiller’s too. There are three tasting options to choose from. A gin tasting (which you first taste neat, then with garnish and then tonic); a Dragon Ginger tasting; and a Beast Tasting with gin and Dragon Ginger. You can also get cocktails (made with in-house liquor) and beers at the bar.

SHARE SOME PIZZA WITH YOUR TEAM

All this gin can make you famished. Distiller’s Union has an onsite wood-fired pizza oven on the outdoor deck. You can order some thin-crust pizza and it will be brought to you during your making and tasting. Or after when you hangout on the deck. 

There’s everything from Vegetariana with bell peppers and mushrooms to meaty pizzas like Con Carne (bacon, ham, salami and onion). If you’re hosting a function, you can preorder pizzas. Read more about gin making and tasting experiences at Distiller’s Union.
