Eastern Cape on track for 2010: 60.000 seater stadium for PE
The Eastern Cape is way ahead with its soccer stadium for FIFA 2010 in Port-Elizabeth
When it comes to the preparations for the World Cup Soccer in 2010, the Eastern Cape Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) is ahead of the other provinces. The PCC was established in October 2004 and has to co-ordinate and advise the cabinet on all matters with regards to the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Three municipalities - Buffalo City, King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) and Nelson Mandela Metro - have been identified for the construction of World Cup soccer stadiums and a 60 000-seater soccer stadium is to be built in Port Elizabeth.
Last but not least: With a budget of R1,5m this year the PCC has, in contrary to other provinces, already advertised staff posts.
