Cape Town Festival's World's Biggest Koe(k)sister
This is no joke - this a must see and an experience of reconciliation
Queen Cookoff -
In 2004 the Cape Town Festival was responsible for the making of the longest koe(k)sister in the world.
The koe(k)sister has diverse stories of origin which will be given voice by incorporating both traditional recipes (Cape Malay - plain and dusted in coconut) and (Afrikaans – twisted and sweet).
Construction of the koe(k)sister will begin in the early morning in Government Avenue and the activity around the frying and joining of each length will culminate at 2pm with a ceremonial joining of the two types, a symbol of reconciliation between our cultures.
