Take your taste buds on a sensory journey at Die Bergkelder and experience award winning Fleur du Cap Unfiltered wines with indulgent delights in this famous “cellar in the mountain” during Stellenbosch Wine Week.
Four Fleur du Cap Unfiltered wines and the 5-star Fleur du Cap Noble Late Harvest will be paired with savoury treats in the tranquil vaulted alcoves of Die Bergkelder to showcase their versatility as superb food wines.
Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Sauvignon Blanc will be paired with a classical Italian Caprese of cherry tomato, mozzarella and basil to bring out the crisp, aromatic character of the wine.
Enjoy Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Chardonnay with lashings of mascarpone with peach and almonds on Melba toast and let the creaminess of the cheese bring out the buttery character of the wine.
Strong flavoured Biltong is the food pairing of choice for Fleur du Cap Shiraz as the coriander and smokiness of the biltong work superbly with the pepper and smoky oak spice of the wine.
For Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon, dark chocolate with sea salt bring out the smooth chocolate character of the wine and its dark fruit notes, whilst the salt complements its fullness and complexity.
As the ultimate treat to end the tasting, the Fleur du Cap Noble Late Harvest will be paired with rich blue cheese and orange preserve on Melba toast to complement the sweetness of the wine while allowing the acidity to cut through the creaminess of the cheese.
