Free Entrance to Iziko Museums During Heritage Week
Entrance to all Iziko Museums in Cape Town will be free on Heritage Day and the rest of Heritage Week 2016
This Heritage Day, Iziko Museums are offering a bountiful programme of events, all proudly homegrown. To further commemorate the occasion, entrance to all Iziko Museums will be free to the public for their annual in_Herit Festival from 19 to 25 September, 2016.
This year’s in_Herit Festival theme is ‘40|50|60 – Commemorating our struggle milestones’. Now you can go and follow in the footsteps of those who contributed to our journey to democracy; the 1956 Women’s March to the Union Buildings, the 1966 District Six removals due to the Group Areas Act and the 1976 Soweto Youth Uprising.
On Heritage Day, Saturday, 24 September, there is a gathering in the Company’s Garden Precinct where everyone is invited for a fun-filled day of family activities – performances, competitions, exhibitions, selfies, music – and more.
Some museums will be closed for renovations, but here is a list of Iziko Cape Town Museums to visit on Heritage Day:
