Local goes Vocal
Local goes Vocal is the the Cape Town Festival's platform for the mother tongue, where poets and musicians of all genres perform on one stage...
Local goes Vocal is the word, the action, the song and the provoking thought.
It is the MC, the poet, the SLAM poet, the musician and you. Expect a beautiful mix of performance art/spoken word and music every evening under the stars in the flora-filled rock garden of the Distrix Caf', Darling/Keizergracht Street. (If the weather is louder than the performers, the stage will move to the hall inside the Distrix Caf'.)
You'll also be serenaded by seasoned folk musician and movie maker, Roger Lucey and blown away by slam poet, Roshina's political hits (and school-girl outfit...). Then be treated to the gutsy voice and versatile guitar-playing of Cape Town's hottest new diva - Claire Phillips - as she soars superbly between sounds from the ghettoes of Cape Town to those of Mariah Carey.
