Hilltop Live Productions and MK have banded together to bring you the mini-Oppikoppi fest “One Night in Cape Town!” at the GrandWest Grand Arena, this Women’s Day, Thursday, 9 August 2012.
Seether, Enter Shikari, Bullet For My Valentine, Eagles of Death Metal, KONGOS and Van Coke Cartel are just a few of the big rockers set to bring down the house and bestow you with a serious rock ‘n roll blessing prior to the start of the outdoor festival season .
As if this line-up wasn’t enough to get heads banging in anticipation, Hilltop Live Productions have a few more international surprises up their sleeves, so stay tuned.
Seether
Powerhouse, SA-born band, Seether, with guitarist Shaun Morgan, bassist Dale Stewart and drummer John Humphrey are back on stage in SA for the first time since 2008. With 11 number one singles and no less than 17 top five hits, this SA trio is an inspiration to fellow musicians and budding rock bands. Now hotter than ever, Seether, for the first time, have three consecutive chart-topping tracks with “No Resolution”, “Country Song” and “Tonight” - all work off their latest album “Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray”.
Enter Shikari
Voted best live band in June this year by metal magazine, Kerrang!, Enter Shikari are bound to put on a show of note. Debuting in 2003 in St Albans, Hertfordshire in England, with a unique blend of hard-core punk and break-beat techno, these stars have been rocking it the only way they know how – their way. “We are the generation that is going to change the world,” says vocalist Rou Reynolds.
Bullet for My Valentine
Finally hitting South African shores, Bullet for My Valentine, named Best British Band in 2008, 2009 and 2010 by Kerrang! magazine, is bringing their distinctive hard rock mixed with metal sound to Mzansi soil.
Eagles of Death Metal
You’d be forgiven for thinking that Californian cult heroes, Eagles of Death Metal, are a death metal band. On the contrary, they play what has been described as more of a "bluegrass slide guitar mixed with stripper drum beats and Canned Heat vocals".
Kongos
Brothers Johnny, Jesse, Dylan and Danny Kongos are members of rock band, KONGOS. Sons of successful SA-born British singer-songwriter, John Kongos, these boys have music in their DNA. Now based in Phoenix Arizona, they return to SA after a successful tour in 2011 and 2012 and a sold out performance at the Hatfield Carnival to give audiences a night they won’t soon forget.
