Grow Your Greens and Eat Them Too at This DIY Food Gardening Course in Obs
Gardening is cheaper than therapy, and you get tomatoes!
On Saturday, 5 and Sunday, 6 May, local edible garden pioneers, Urban Harvest, will be sharing their knowledge on growing your own greens in an urban lifestyle with their Food Gardening Course in Obs.
WHO ARE URBAN HARVEST?
WHAT THEY (LITERALLY) BRING TO THE TABLE
Many of us fancy the idea of eating straight from the source (i.e, our backyard), but don't know where to start. This practical two-day course will equip you with all the knowledge and skills needed to get your own sustainable food garden going. The intensive course will look at everything from garden design with installation to maintenance and how to get the most out of your own food garden.
The course will cover the following aspects of food gardening:
- Basic garden design
- Compost making
- DIY organic fertilisers
- Oil science
- Plant care
Split between theory and practical elements, the experts at Urban Harvest will teach you how to take advantage of the Cape’s seasonal winter rains and how to effectively use this to the benefit of your garden. So whether you eat veggies with every meal or consider the garnish on your burger to be more than enough greens, learn how to grow your own goods right in the comfort of your own home with this unique course in food gardening.
