New lifestyle event brings amapiano, gqom, food & more
Togetherness, support and acceptance are the names of the game, as is tennis. From 22–24 September, the Triangle Project is hosting the 6th annual LGBTI Tennis Open, an event for the whole family with an important ideal in mind. One of its more tangible aims is to raise money for the LGBTI community to offer services such as counselling, health clinics and support for survivors of violence.
The tournament will be held at the Pinelands Tennis Club from 9am on September 22. Running alongside the tennis will be a charity auction, where items that have been generously donated will be sold to the highest bidder. So even if you’re not exactly a grand slam contender there’s still something for you.
If you’re a fan of tennis, auctions and most importantly acceptance and care, then the LGBTI Tennis Open is the event for you. So break out that tennis racquet, put on some non-marking shoes, and give it all you’ve got. Or just come and smack a few balls around. As long as you’re there and you’re having fun.
Looking for support and understanding? Here are some of Cape Town’s LGBTI counselling centres and shelters.
If bar sports are more your thing then you might want to have a look at these: the best pool spots in Cape Town.
Kids chomping at the bit to get out and have some fun in Pinelands? Have a look at be UP park.
