The lady on the corner, that's how we think of this modest spot at the top of bustling Long Street. An institution in itself, Lola's – a familiar favourite has been making food with love and integrity since 2011. The warm décor, lush with plants invites you in and encourages you to stay a while.

From steamed, perfectly plumped mussels and beautifully-cooked fish to the famous Karan steak sandwich – it's contemporary bistro fare. The menu changes almost daily but for a few items that have proven their salt and attained permanent status, such as the falafel burger and penne vesuvio to name a couple. Seasonal specials are always on offer, making this homemade grub affordable even on those "end of the month salticrax" days. 

Something’s cooking on Long

Once the private culinary maestro for hotelier Sol Kerzner, chef and co-owner Craig Wobbe is passionate about his craft. He believes in sustainability, quality produce and fair trade principles, and Craig makes it his mission to craft and conceptualise dishes depending on the availability of seasonal ingredients.

The restaurant does a roaring early morning trade, as one of the only eateries open on a Sunday. It appears to have a certain advantage to the hungry local as well as the inquisitive traveller. The diversity of the menu reflects this: from simple scramble and fruit salad to sweetcorn fritter stacks and arguably the best eggs benedict in Cape Town. Freshly-squeezed juices and healthy yet decadent smoothies will put a spring in your step every time. Boasting Deluxe Coffeworks beans – you need look no further to satisfy your coffee craving.

Opening hours: Lola's is open from 07:30 to 17:00 Monday through Saturday, 08:30 to 16:30 on Sundays.

TIP: Lola's is available every evening for private functions including film and photo shoots, engagement parties and business functions, It's the perfect venue for groups of anywhere from 20 up to 50 looking for their own private space where one can watch the night on Long Street unfold. (a minimum booking of 15 is required)
