14 Finalists To Shine At The 2018 Miss Gay Western Cape Pageant
See which of these fabulous contestants will reign supreme queen
The 14 finalists of the 10th Miss Gay Western Cape pageant are set to dazzle audiences at the Joseph Stone Auditorium in Athlone on Saturday 3 November 2018. The annual competition provides a stellar platform for the LGBTQI community in Cape Town and is a must-attend occasion for anyone wanting to see Cape Town’s fiercest queens strut their stuff for the coveted crown.
Reigning Queen Emogen Moore will play host as the contestants sashay in swimwear, evening wear and theme wear. Here, presentation is everything for winning points with the judges. It’s a chance for the entrants to prove their creativity by incorporating a message promoting the LGBTQI community into their outfit.
Miss Gay is not just about the glitz, glamour and sassy antics of the city’s fiercest divas. It is also about promoting self-expression and tolerance, as well as garnering funding to combat issues affecting the LGBTQI community.
The Miss Gay organising committee is especially focused on partnering with health organisations to educate, facilitate workshops, and provide support for those living with HIV/AIDS in the LGBTQI community within the Western Cape.
LGBTQI persons still face prejudice and stigma, especially within disadvantaged areas in the province. The pageant provides the contestants with a safe and non-exploitative environment to demonstrate their queenliness, without fear of being stigmatised or ostracised. So come and show your support, not just for your favourite competitor, but for the institution of Miss Gay as a whole.
