Muizenberg’s Flea Market is a local favourite
Mielies in a cup, bargains and treasures and more across 300 stalls every Sunday
The Muizenberg Flea Market is an institution in this seaside town – it’s been going for the last 34 years. There’s over 300 stalls that sell everything from Cape Malay food to underwear. And the best part is you'll always leave with a bargain. It’s on every Sunday at Sunrise Circle, accessible to all, and extremely budget friendly.

GET AFFORDABLE, HEARTY FOOD
Nothing screams local more than the food at this market. One of the most popular options is mielies in a cup. You can have it spicy, garlicky or buttery, and prices start from R10! Another interesting and affordable option is cut pineapple on a stick, served with a mix of spices. Then there’s shawarmas, samosas, steak rolls, boerewors, chip rolls, koesisters and granadilla lollies, all for under R50 each.

But that’s not all. Stroll further down the endless rows of stalls and you’ll find waffles on a stick. Toppings include maple, caramel and mango sauce, chocolate flakes, rainbow sprinkles, Jelly Tots, marshmallows, whipped cream, ice cream and Nutella.

Don’t forget to get snacks for later. From peanuts, dried fruit, paaper bites and snoek, to biltong and toffee apples, there’s something for everyone. Plus you can buy a range of household goods like coffee, tea, peanut butter, noodles, joint relief spray and cleaning products at a much lower price than in the supermarkets.

Whatever you’re looking for, we’re sure you can find it here – there are over 300 stalls. Give life to your home and hunt for the perfect plant to fill that empty space in the living room. Save on your renovation budget and buy brass doorknobs, cupboard handles and other decor items at bargain prices. There’s also a stall for household items like kettles, fans, pressure cookers, irons, mixers, even stove tops.

Leave your jewellery with a local uncle, he will make it shiny again, and it won’t cost an arm and a leg. There’s also a space to relax, where you can get a massage and five minutes for free. Furthermore, there’s Tupperware, clothes (and underwear) for all shapes and sizes, kiddies toys, board games, books, and the list goes on. Plus, there are also stalls with tools with everything from spanners and drills to sawing machines and measuring tapes.

FALL IN LOVE WITH THE VIBE
People of all types and age flock to this market for it’s good food, bargains and vibe. As you walk through row upon row of stalls, you’ll hear an auntie laughing out loud, see a child speed past to get cotton candy from the friendly face sitting in the middle of the market, groups of friends deciding which henna art to get, and families spending the day together. Plus, it’s pet-friendly and close to other seaside towns like Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town.
