Just Four Days Left of Encounters Film Festival
Cape Town film festival's popularity calls for organisers to increase festival line-up
Just four days are left before the 11th Encounters South African International Documentary Festival will draw to a close after a marathon run of 17 days in Cape Town.
Although the final count is not in yet, the festival has experienced multiple sold out screenings during stormy Cape Town weather.
Full houses give an indication of audience’s preferences – a combination of award winning films, well known filmmakers, and celebrity ‘subjects’.
So far, the festival has enjoyed sold out screenings for animated Waltz with Bashir, music-based Fokofpolisiekar, Sea Point Days, Defamation, The Invincibles, Encounters at the end of the world, as well as Kentridge and Dumas in Conversation.
Other festival darlings are The Manuscripts of Timbuktu, Rewind, Who Killed Maggie, Rip – A Remix Manifesto, The Queen and I, and Nature of Life.
Due to popular demand, the organisers of Encounters were delighted to announce additional screenings to the Festival line-up.
Francois Verster’s Sea Point Days has been well received by the public, selling out both screenings on the first weekend.
