Winchester Mansions, Cape Town's leading beachfront boutique hotel, has been singled out as one of South Africa's leading environmental tourism hotels at the annual Imvelo Responsible Tourism Awards 2005.One of many factors which qualifies Winchester Mansions as a commendable representative of Responsible Tourism is its ongoing support of project Streetsmart, which assists The Homestead and Ons Plek (service providers for street children).
The Winchester Mansions hotel also backs Learn to Live, a nonformal educational programme for street children. Furthermore, ten percent of all proceeds from the children's menu at the Winchester Mansions hotel's signature restaurant, Harveys at the Mansions, is given to the Red Cross Children's Hospital.
All waste paper is donated to the Oasis Association for recycling, illustrating a steadfast commitment to protecting the environment.
