South Africa’s Only Pizza And Pasta Fest Is Back
An explosion of cheese, Italian desserts and a 360-degree view of Cape Town in summertime
Forget the diets and health-focused resolutions, and cut yourself some slack on 8 February 2020. Why? Because it's the Cape Town Pizza & Pasta Festival.
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL PIZZA DAY
Yes, you read that right. It's International Pizza Day on 8 February and Cape Town is celebrating with South Africa's only pizza and pasta festival at Fort Wynyard. Expect to see local, live music and smell some of Cape Town's most beloved Italian eateries, including Corlie's Italian, Newlands Spring and Pizza-Coni's (that's pizza in cone shape). Tickets cost R100–R150 and you can book them at Webtickets.
LIVE MUSIC, PLUS SOMETHING FOR THE KIDS
Scrumptious Italian treats aside, there will be lots to keep you entertained including live music. Most of the line-up must still be announced, but expect acts like ShenFM, Liam Culbert and Playground Twins. Kids under 13 get in free and there will be a jumping castle, paintball, quad bikes and a life-size fort for them to explore. What's more, the event is dog-friendly and organisers will provide water spots so that your pooch doesn't faint from the February heat. Take a free bunker tour (they start every hour on the hour) or chill in the beer garden (entrance is free).
A SMORGASBORD OF SNACKS
The Pizza & Pasta Festival is all about indulgence, so throw your calorie tracker out the window for one day. Enjoy gourmet pizza and pasta dishes, traditional Italian desserts, craft beer and a variety of other drinks. All with a 360-degree view of Table Mountain, Granger Bay, the V&A Waterfront and Cape Town Stadium.
Please note: no outside food will be allowed into the venue; and because of limited card facilities, the organisers urge festival-goers to bring cash (there are no ATMs on-site).
