Fresh look, same chef at Riverine Rabbit restaurant – now serving new flavours
Award-winning chef, Ash Heeger, the brains and hands behind popular Church Street restaurant ASH, has launched the new eatery taking its place. Riverine Rabbit restaurant is her latest venture and is now open with a fresh new look and feel.
HERE’S WHAT’S NEW AT RIVERINE RABBIT RESTAURANT
The new restaurant is a fine dining experience with a focus on sustainability, locally sourced seasonal produce, and mindful preparation of food. In fact, the name is inspired by an indigenous animal found in the Karoo that is facing extinction, the riverine rabbit.
You may opt for the intimate chef’s table experience, where you will get a look into the kitchen, as well as time to chat with chef Ash.
Riverine Rabbit offers a three-course menu and a five-course tasting menu, as well as a seven-course dégustation paired with a selection of wines.
THE FLAVOURS
Whet your appetite with freshly baked bread that changes daily such as potato bread with porcini butter before moving on to starters.
Think buttery, hazelnut, lemon and wheat Burnt Leeks or buffalo curd, pine nut, herbs de Provence and lemon Baked Beetroot. Move on to porcini, parsley and pine nut Mushroom Pithivier or legumes, mint, apple and wild herbs Lamb for mains. Finish off with Milk & Honey or Summer Pudding for dessert. All paired with carefully selected wines, these matches are made in heaven and are exactly what you came for.
THE INTERIORS, ART AND MUSIC
The team at Riverine Rabbit have commissioned artists to help create a new look and feel for the restaurant. If you fall in love with a piece, you’ll be excited to hear that most of the art is also for sale to the public.
The playlist is a contemporary mix of rock, 90s hip-hop and some independent quirky tracks thrown in for good measure.
