Daytime Afrocentric festival in Cape Town
New one-day lifestyle festival brings music, food and Afrocentric vibes
Last updated: 20 November 2024
The curators of popular music and cultural event Slow Cooked Sundays are hosting a new kind of festival on Saturday, 30 November to kick off summer. Days In The Sun Festival at The Ostrich, just 45 minutes away from Cape Town, will bring some stellar local and continental music acts playing the best of deep house, RnB, amapiano, gqom and 90s and 2000s South African hits that will trigger summer memories.
Think lush grass and beach sand, good food, drinks and even better vibes with hours of dancing under the open sky. Get all the details, including a sneak peek at their groovy playlist.

A LICENSE TO ESCAPE ADULTING
Days In The Sun Festival wants to give you license to escape the craziness of adulting, it's clear from the illustrated playful poster.
“Our aim is to take our party-goers through a journey of childhood memories. We’re blending Afrocentric vibes, nostalgic fun, and cutting-edge music,” says Kofi Appiah, the co-founder and director of the festival.
Days In The Sun adds to the growing Cape Town festival scene, and brings diversity to the DJ lineup and the festival audiences, as they have done with Slow Cooked Sundays, the trendy event that started in 2019 in Sea Point and quickly became a popular networking platform for local brands, artists, and small businesses.
“Slow Cooked Sundays has been an incredible experience, quite a ride since Covid. We're now transitioning into something even bigger, which is our Days In The Sun Festival,” he adds.
