Free Yoga And Acroyoga at Yogagarden Launch
Enjoy free yoga, vegan eats, something for kids, and dancing at launch of new yoga studio Milnerton
Celebrate mindful living with the launch of Yogagarden, a new pop-up yoga studio and vegan cafe in Milnerton. Launch day celebration include free yoga classes (including acroyoga) for all ages and levels, complimentary healthy snacks, face painting for kids, dancing and music from live electronic act, Ward 10. It’s all happening on Saturday 16 November and everyone’s invited.
Yogagarden is a Summer pop-up that will be open from 16 November until March 2020, offering regular classes for all ages and levels, from the absolute beginner to the trained athlete. Other highlights will include workshops about mindfulness, yoga and healthy cooking, as well as all-inclusive day-retreats, where you can escape the city, detox and rejuvenate.
“Yogagarden is a place for inspiration, for rest and for connecting with others as well as yourself. We want to create a community open to all ages and backgrounds, with or without previous yoga experience. Come as you are. No one belongs here more than you,” says organiser, Kaia.
STEP INSIDE THE YOGAGARDEN
Yogagarden boasts a spacious outdoor yoga deck, next to a pool, set in a lush tropical garden. There is a Moroccan-style bedouin tent with a seating area, hammocks, sunbeds as well as picnic areas. The Boho-style decoration includes dream catchers, mandalas, hanging plants, fairy lights and fire pits. Toilets and changing rooms are available.
MEET THE TEACHERS
Kaia, founder of Yogagarden, has received training in various styles and locations; from Jivamukti in Costa Rica; Embodied Flow in Bali; Liquid Flow in France, and Yoga Therapy in Spain. Explore physically challenging yet mindful ways to move, and find relaxation through meditation.
Moritz Ulrich (guest teacher) will teach the 90-minute advanced class. He is a medical doctor and an 800-hour certified Jivamukti teacher and the owner of Peace Yoga, Berlin. At the end of his class, there will be a short kirtan (a call and response chanting of mantras which is accompanied by the harmonium instrument).
YOGAGARDEN LAUNCH PARTY PROGRAMME
- 12 am: Free beginners class
- 2:30 pm: Free advanced Jivamukti class
- 4:30/5 pm: Acroyoga basics class and acro jam (Acroyoga is a partner practice that uses therapeutic and acrobatic elements to promote trust, playfulness and mutual respect between participants and an acro jam is an opportunity to practice with your fellow acro yogis in an unstructured way.)
- Evening to late: Electronic music and dancing with the live act Ward10
REFRESHMENTS
Yogagarden includes a boutique vegan cafe, run by Sonja Bloder. She is a registered yoga teacher, reiki practitioner and a raw vegan chef and will also teach classes and host cacao ceremonies.
At the launch party, grab complimentary welcome juice shots and bliss balls (snacks packed with healthy fats, fibre, and protein), vegan Snickers bites, lemon and mint-infused water, and more. For purchase, Buddha bowls, salads, raw and baked desserts, as well as iced matcha latte (with plant milk), kombucha and more will be available.
RATES AND EVENTS AFTER THE LAUNCH
After the launch event, you’ll pay R130 per drop-in session or R600 for a 5-class pass. Day retreats such as “Detox and Rejuvenate,” cost R450 and include yoga, food, pool time, workshops on ayurvedic rejuvenation techniques or DIY beauty products, as well as handouts with meal plans, recipes, yoga flows, and more. Other events, like “Yoga and Brunch” are estimated to cost R300. You’re welcome to organise bachelorette and birthday parties at Yogagarden. Keep up with the latest events on social media.

Attending the launch is free of charge. Wear comfortable clothing and bring your own yoga mat. If you don’t have a mat, one can be provided on request. Street parking is available in the neighbourhood, with car guards on hand for added security.
