The One&Only The Winter Programme is on hold due to level 4 restrictions. We will update you as soon as possible. In the meantime have a look at more accommodation specials in and around Cape Town.
The winter holidays are almost here and with it a delightful proposition: One&Only Cape Town has a Winter Programme that will thrill families who love to travel. Here’s a taste: for the children, a mini-indoor Olympics, cookie bake-offs plus traditional crafts and games from around the world; and for the adults, Wimbledon tea, fine-dining and yoga.
The Winter Programme is packed full of fun for families, with activities both creative and sporty. It’s running from 10 - 25 July.
For those who love tennis, Wimbledon holds a special place. The One&Only Cape Town’s Vista Bar & Lounge will make the most of this, and will host a lavish afternoon tea (R395 pp) on the 10th and 11th of July, for the finals. This will start off the two-week Winter Programme in style.
Food is central to a holiday and this is the luxury resort’s strength. There’s a series of pizza-making, cupcake-decorating and gingerbread-baking lessons, kids supervised activities run by the Resort culinary team. They’re easy-going, interactive experiences held in the beautiful Pastry Kitchen. All sessions take place on a few days and different times during the programme, so no need to choose between them.Kids can have fun making some of their favourite bakes. Image: One&Only Cape Town
One&Only Cape Town celebrates Christmas in July every year. There’ll be a sumptuous tea at the Vista Bar & Lounge (17-18 July for R425pp), and at Ochre (18 July for R750 pp) a decadent lunch will be served featuring all the festive favourites. There’ll also be themed entertainment for the children.
For adults and young teens with an interest in the natural world, an interesting option is to join for the hotel’s Speaker Series. A talk titled The Amazing Coelacanth is planned for mid-July, and focuses on the oldest living fish, the coelacanth, presumed for years to be extinct until one was discovered in 1938. The talk is by ichthyologist, researcher and author Mike Bruton, and will be followed by a four-course meal (15 July, R495pp).
KidsOnly, exclusive to One&Only Resorts around the world, takes inspiration from all the different cultures and landscapes where it is represented, and the Winter Programme will have themed craft activities and traditional games from these countries. There’s also edutainment with a trip across to the Two Oceans Aquarium for the recently launched Turtles of Two Oceans conservation experience (R3000 per group of 5). Guests will get an exclusive behind the scenes access into the care and release of distressed and stranded sea turtles back into the warm Agulhas Current.
Also, in celebration of the global Olympics, KidsOnly will host an indoor Olympics, which will include lively challenges and games. And don’t miss the opportunity to see some of Cape Town’s natural beauty with a family hike, which will be led by an approved guide and tailored to suit the group’s abilities.
One&Only Spa has a limited Winter Wellness offer, with access to its luxury thermal suites and other facilities – these are some of the prettiest spa rooms in the city. This is even better if done after yoga classes led by an expert instructor. There is also a fitness team that runs a high-powered functional workout.
For South Africans residents, there is an accommodation offer One Escape, which includes special rates as well as 25% off food and beverages during your stay at One&Only Cape Town. You’re also treated to daily breakfasts and access to all of the resort's luxurious facilities. This includes the spa, fitness centre and kids club.
