Last updated: Monday, 14 April 2025
If you are looking to start a career with a company with a bold purpose and the ability to achieve, and are excited by the opportunity to step out of your comfort zone, these opportunities are for you
We’re on a mission to create a DNA-changing impact on locals, visitors, small businesses and this destination through daily Moments of Joy. For happier people and a better place, unlocking magic around the corner and creating a magnet the world can not wait to be a part of.
We’re an owner managed, independent business driven by a relatively small, committed and passionate (growing) team. We’re not just an online media business, we’re a platform on a mission to really impact this place. We're seeking a passionate and driven individuals to join our team.
If this excites you, see below and apply.
Location: Cape Town
Type: Full-time
Experience: 3–5 years in an executive support role
Reports to: Founder and the leadership team
To be the operational right hand to a high-output, visionary founder, who thrives on ideas, intensity, and impact, and needs a calm, kind, steady physical presence to bring flow, order, capacity and clarity to his world.
You’ll bring rhythm, accountability, structure and follow-through to both his business and personal life, help move key projects forward.
You'll ensure nothing falls through the cracks — from follow-ups via WhatsApp voice notes to sales CRM entries to reminding him of team birthday gifts and anniversaries. When the founder hands you something — whether an idea, a task, or a voice note — you map it, clarify it, close the loop, and keep him in the know.
You’ll also play a pivotal role in supporting our leadership team and owning the systems and tools that are the heartbeat of our office and culture.
You thrive on being stretched. You love learning and growing. You’re excited about a role that pushes you beyond your comfort zone — because you know that’s where the magic is. You’re not afraid of feedback or challenges.
You’ve supported high-functioning people before. You’ve successfully run the life of a time-strapped executive or entrepreneur, and now want something more mission-driven. You’ve managed complex calendars, competing priorities, and fast decision-makers. You’ve helped someone focus and follow through because that’s your gift.
You are wildly organized. From your digital folders and physical desk to your calendar reminders — you keep things together. You find satisfaction in knowing everything has its place.
You bring clarity, closure, and calm. You track the threads, you follow up, and you make sure nothing gets left hanging and give people the feedback they need to feel safe and in control.
You think in projects and priorities. Even when someone throws 10 ideas at you, you know how to organize them, break them down, and align them to goals.
You are kind and loyal, calm and collected. You bring emotional intelligence to every interaction. You value trust and relationships over getting credit. When you commit, you commit fully. You don’t get rattled easily. You keep your head clear in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
Manage the Founder’s Life & Flow
Create and drive weekly Winning Weeks
Lead daily morning and end-of-day check-ins to sync, steer, and close loops.
Proactively plan his day and manage his calendar, time, and energy — you lead.
Be physically present to help him focus and follow through — this is not a “reminder” role, this is a get-it-done-together role.
Be the catch-all for his million thoughts and ideas — capture, sort, revisit, and return to them with structure.
Attend key meetings with him, take notes, follow up, and track delivery of actions.
Know where he is at all times, so that you can remind him of his next priorities, pulling him out of meetings that are running long and ushering him into his next.
Support personal tasks with the same care and clarity — from school pick-ups and school managing the school WhatsApp chats to grocery orders.
Know when he needs coffee, water and meals and provide it without him asking to make sure that he is at his optimal levels.
Sales & Partner Communication Support
Manage and maintain the sales CRM for the founder and leadership team — logging meetings, tracking follow-ups, and ensuring up-to-date, accurate partner pipelines.
Set up and coordinate key meetings: intro scans, briefing sessions, check-ins. Own the invites, confirmations, calendar logistics, and prep comms.
Track which meetings happened — whether or not you were there — and ensure recordings, notes, and follow-ups are captured and saved in the right folders, consistently and without prompting.
Make sure the founder is in the right meetings at the right time, and exiting ones that are lasting too long and eating away at his time.
Create and maintain partner folder structures and naming conventions. Keep everything organized and retrievable across the sales journey.
Follow up with partners directly where appropriate — using agreed language and tone. Ensure follow-ups are never missed, and that communication flows are clean and timely.
Help prepare and send curated partner comms — from follow-ups to special event invites — with warmth, clarity, and strategic tone.
Act as a comms support and accountability partner to the founder and leadership team, helping ensure every partner touchpoint is intentional and consistent.
Office Flow & Team Support
Be the heartbeat of the office — the person who makes sure everything is in flow, functional, and well-supplied.
Receive deliveries, manage office needs, and ensure the workspace is welcoming, organized, and energizing.
Set up and maintain simple systems that make everything smoother — from where things live, to how things get requested, tracked, and followed up.
Own the planning of team culture moments: birthdays, team buildings, year-ends, small celebrations, and meaningful acknowledgments.
Be the team’s grounding presence who brings steady support and professionalism to day-to-day interactions.
Handle ad hoc needs from team members: whether it’s sourcing something, coordinating an errand, or solving a mini-emergency with grace. Click this link to apply.

Detail-Oriented & Results-Driven: Notices the small things (typos, folder structure, follow-ups) that build trust. But also tracks and drives meaningful outcomes over time.
People-Centered: Genuinely enjoys supporting others, building rapport, and caring for a team, from remembering birthdays to managing sensitive team needs.

Project Overview
Are you geeky about content creation and copy? We’re looking for a seasoned writer/editor for a number of content projects. We need to have hundreds of stellar content pieces written, edited and published. These are different types of content projects.
– Partner content: Written pieces for online with corresponding social media copy. You’ll help businesses in hospitality (stays, restaurants, experiences, events) by producing SEO-savvy content and social media content that resonates.
– Editorial content: Written pieces for online, with corresponding social media copy. Take on and refresh a batch of in-house editorial content, for example.
– Brand campaigns: Execute projects on digital brand campaigns. From taglines, and banner copy, to online and social media content
We’d love a multi-media professional, who can be a kick ass writer, editor and producer of our reels (shoot and edit).
You are 1 or both of the following kinds of writer/editor:
Prefer desk-bound work where you can fact-check and interview over the phone and deliver multiple killer content pieces per week. You’re an ace copywriter and experienced editor who can take a brief and bring out a fresh, compelling angle.
You love to be out and about, interviewing people face-to-face and seeing places live. You are also available to jump on experiences (stays at hotels, meals at restaurants, and experiences, including nightlife) any day of the week.
Massive win for us is someone who can do both.
Whatever type (1 or 2 or both), you must be:
– Online first – have extensive experience working on online and social media/digital projects.
– Curious – interested in unpacking a place. You’re a storyteller and marketer (not a reviewer).
– Can deliver – to brief, on time and turn around revisions quickly.
– Great copywriter & editor – can see an angle & craft a story and campaign payoff lines.
– Enthusiastic about impact – of your work on partners and readers.
– Great project manager – who can hold multiple projects and deliver to deadlines.
What you'll be doing
Content creation and storytelling: Writing SEO-optimized features for our hospitality partners, including short online pieces, with compelling title tags and social media content that helps the story resonate
Update a whole section of CapeTownMagazine.com. Project managing and overseeing it — from concept to delivery— planning, interviews, content production, and partner communication
Go on “Experiences”: Attending and writing about unique experiences (restaurants, stays, nightlife), with quick turnarounds and minimal editing.
Partner meetings and interviews: Working closely with passionate small business owners to capture their brand stories and create content that resonates.
Creative execution: Crafting compelling taglines, campaign content, and social media posts for brand campaigns
(Huge bonus) Video/reel production and/or editing: Creating or managing video content for reels and social media.
Sound like you?
Email Joonji Mdyogolo (joonji@capetownmagazine.com), and share a synopsis of the projects you’ve worked on that align to some or all of what we are looking for. In whatever format you prefer.
