Apero Afrique |
After the success enjoyed by its Belgian counterpart, the Apéro Afrique concept is coming to our own pretty city with the aim of gathering laidback Capetonians in one gorgeous setting to eat, enjoy after-work drinks, dance, chill and make merry whilst mingling with new friends and family. Stop and smell the roses, play boules, play cards, listen to live music, grab tasty treats from food trucks, relax on deckchairs and soak up the relaxed ambience our city is famed for. And best of all? Entrance is free!
Sponsored by Ray Ban and Leopold 7 Belgian Beer, the series of events will happen twice a month on different dates during 2016, at the croquet field by the Rugby Museum at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. The format for the events will largely be the same: guests can arrive at approximately 3pm and lie back on deckchairs for a while, enjoying the remaining rays of sunshine, after-work drinks and each other’s company. This is part of the unwinding process – to forget the woes and worries of the week and start focusing on the excitement of the weekend.
As the afternoon progresses, people are encouraged to chat, laugh and have a blast, and there’ll be a number of activities to encourage participants to play! A range of games such as boules and cards will be on hand, creating an ideal platform for individuals to chat and make new friends. Apéro Afrique is all about creating these opportunities for community engagement – with the aim of bringing the smile back to our city!
WHY YOU SHOULD MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE APERO AFRIQUE EVENTS IN CAPE TOWN
BECAUSE YOU DESERVE A BREAK: All too often we get caught up in the chaos of our busy agendas and we forget to take time out to simply be still and revel in the present. Take a break and immerse yourself in a sunny setting, with lovely people all intent on having a good time!
BECAUSE THERE’S NOTHING BETTER THAN DRINKING AND EATING WITH FRIENDS: It’s true – gathering in an informal spot with family and friends and sharing a meal and drinks is one of the best ways to bond and have a ball. There’ll be a fully-stocked cash bar and food trucks on hand to make sure you get full.
BECAUSE YOU’RE PART OF A VIBRANT COMMUNITY: Whether you’re a Capetonian or just visiting; for one glorious afternoon you’ll be part of a fabulous community of like-minded souls, showcasing the best thing our city has to offer – its people.
BECAUSE IT’S SAFE AND SECURE: The events all take place in a closed-off area with security on-hand, so your safety is assured.
BECAUSE OUR CITY IS BEAUTIFUL AND WE SHOULD CELEBRATE IT: This free and inclusive event is the perfect way for us to stop and admire our gorgeous city as the V&A Waterfront is an idyllic place from which to view Table Mountain and the sea.
BECAUSE IT SUPPORTS LOCAL & INTERNATIONAL GUEST ARTISTS: What's better than lying back and listening to lekker live music? Each event will have a selection of performers on-hand and ready to wow guests so be sure to show them your support.
BECAUSE IT’S PART OF GIVING BACK: Most of the events will have a strong charity focus, with different charities and humanitarian causes being brought to the fore, with the aim of showcasing what they do and why they are so worthy of support.
