Countdown to the Loeries

The festival is drawing near

The Loerie finalists for 2009 have been announced and with just over a month to go before The 31st Annual Loerie Awards, it's time to make your plans for this year’s Festival Weekend in Cape Town.

With the official ceremonies being held on Friday 25 September and Saturday 26 September, Capetonians will be consumed with the Loeries all weekend long.

The red carpet will be rolled
out for Loerie guests in Cape Town this year. The industry elite as well as local celebrities, business leaders and politicians will all be celebrating the awards.

The Communication Design and Print Media awards will be hosted by Ads24 on Friday and the Electronic Awards (Radio, TV, Digital, and Online Advertising), Live Events, Mixed-Media and Integrated Campaigns will be hosted by the SABC on Saturday.

After-parties on Friday and Saturday will be in Long Street and enjoy a fantastic line-up of DJs till the sun rises. Festivities will continue during the day along the Camps Bay beachfront on Friday and Saturday.

Due to the high demand, additional Grand seats have been made available and a small number of Very Important Ego (VIE) tickets are still available. This includes access to all VIP areas throughout the weekend as well as the Mayor’s Function on Thursday.

The festival organisers have also set aside gallery seats for educational institutions. So if you’re a school and still hoping to get your hands on one of these tickets, please contact the Loeries office on +27 11 326 0304.

All ticketholders also get access to the Battle of the Bands on Thursday 24 September and the Chairman’s Party.

Long Street and the surrounding areas will be transformed into the Loeries Village for the awards weekend from 24 to 27 September 2009.

Agencies are encouraged to book accommodation in the area, which offers everything from backpackers to five star hotels, and all official accommodation can be booked via Cape Town Tourism’s special Loeries minisite http://www.capetown.travel/loeries/.

For those travelling to the awards, special Mango flights are available with return fares from R1, 389 Jo’burg or Durban to Cape Town, and cars are available from Tempest Car Hire for as little as R149 per day.

A shuttle service will be provided
in the Loeries Village with links to all official accommodation. The shuttles will run during the daytime on Thursday and 24 hours on Friday and Saturday.
