What to expect this summer on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays
Last updated: Thursday, 9 January 2025
The Bay Harbour Market, set in a charming repurposed fish factory in a working harbour, is where Cape Town’s creative energy comes to life. It’s a treasure of eclectic finds and quirky surprises. Every visit is an adventure, with live music filling the air and unique art, food and four bars to discover. It’s open every Friday, 5pm to 9pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 9.30am to 4pm. We spoke to Bay Harbour Market’s spokesperson, Finoa Lunt, about what’s new this summer.

No matter how often you come, there's always something fresh…
Every visit offers a fresh discovery, from unique artwork to vintage posters. The more you explore, the more treasures you’ll uncover.
You’ll find everything from handmade township art at Tafara to hand-knitted baby toys from Lovelings. There are also treats like pineapple cake, biltong, Belgian waffles and fresh juices.

The new foods, drinks and some summer favourites to try are…
Ribs from Rib Republic, they are meaty in a sticky-sweet and smoky sauce; the variety of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes from Relish & Savour (the lamb shawarma is their signature dish); and the craft beers from Craft T Bar, with a tasting tray of 4 to 6 beers.
The empanadas from Mexicanos, paella from Sea Bar, dim sum from Tao’s Chinese Kitchen, and the breakfast pizza (with eggs and bacon) from Three Sisters Pizza are also favourites.

Everyone loves the coated nuts from Tribal Treats…
The other favourite is the lemon meringue from Nap Living (also known as Nap Café). They pair homemade confectioneries, like cheesecakes, lemon meringue, apple pie and their speciality pineapple cake, and now also fudges, with coffee from Deluxe Coffeeworks.

We’ve added some nice new shops, too…
Like Archie Jakapo’s cute kiddies puzzles that come in a range of quirky animal shapes, from tortoises and snails to hippos and elephants.
Plus, Imvelo Crafts, with their beautiful lamps and candlelight holders made by hand from recycled PVC pipes.
Truth Premium CBD, with CBD-infused bath bombs, pet biscuits, candles, and oils is also new to the market.

There is an outside area to enjoy the view under a big beautiful umbrella…
The market is a perfect little summer escape for the whole family, a relaxed space where you can shop, eat, and soak up summer vibes.
Outside, you can relax under an umbrella while soaking in the harbour views.

There’s live music every day, and sometimes Friday drag shows…
It’s an ever-changing mix of acoustic pop, rock, blues and jazz at the Sound Stage.
Fridays, performances kick off at 7pm, sometimes with drag shows. The next show will be Kat Gilardi and Manila von Teez on Friday, 28 February at 7pm.
On Saturdays and Sundays, sets start at 1pm and end at 3pm. We post a gig guide at the beginning of every month. You can see the full live music lineup on the Bay Harbour Market’s website.
