If Black Sails is the wind beneath your wings or you’re just a cinephile generally, then this event is sure to be on your schedule for July. From Friday, 21 to Saturday, 22 July 2017, the makers of Black Sails are hosting a prop auction that is open to serious bidders, at Cape Town Film Studio. Pretty much everything (bar the actual boats) is going on sale, and this opportunity will not come around again.
For those of you that don’t know the joy that is Black Sails, allow me to educate you. The show is filmed in Cape Town (yay) but is actually an American television series. It follows the life and times of various privateer characters who sail the seas in search of new and exciting adventures. There’s a lot of action, suspense and drama, but let’s not get into that now. All you need to know is that all the things you see on set are up for sale and you could get your hands on them.
THINGS BEING SOLD AT THE 2017 BLACK SAILS PROP AUCTION
Many of you will have seen the big olden time ships as you speed along the N2 near Stellenbosch, that’s where Black Sails was filmed! Unfortunately, the boats are not for sale but you can grab a piece of local cinematic history!
ENTRANCE TO THE 2017 BLACK SAILS PROP AUCTION
There is a process to attend this event and it goes like this; buyer’s will be required to register prior to the event. You will also have to pay a R5000 refundable deposit, and get FICA-ed. Registration closes on Thursday, 20 July 2017. The viewing is strictly by appointment only and all goods need to be gone by Saturday, 22 July 2017 at 3pm.
