2022: Experience Bertus Basson's new restaurant.

Most of you will have heard of Bertus Basson from Overture Restaurant and the popular TV show The Ultimate Braai Master, among other culinary projects and initiatives. For those that don’t know him, Basson is a professional chef who has a passionate love for South African food and uses his immense skill and talent to refine and revamp traditional flavours and dishes. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from him when this local legend hosts the Cooking Methods workshop at his Spice Route venue on Saturday, 19 August 2017.

At this workshop, guests will be shown how to poach, roast, pair and infuse using all the delicious ingredients that Basson is famous for. His love and understanding of meat allows him to take his combinations and dishes to interesting new heights. The theme of this workshop is ‘Master the Art of Smoking, Poaching and More’, which will give guests a deep insight into how Bertus Basson likes to cook.

The workshop is scheduled to start at 9am, and it will begin with a cooking demonstration. Basson will take you through his dishes step-by-step, you’ll be able to ask questions and really get into the details of each plate. Once he has worked his way through all of the dishes he plans to show you, everyone will be seated around a table and invited to tuck into a delicious brunch spread, comprising signature dishes and all of the courses he created for you during the demonstration.

No culinary experience would be complete without wine, and this foodie workshop (which is on a wine farm) will certainly deliver. Guests will be able to enjoy a selection of Spice Route wines as tasters (as well as with their brunch), and afterwards can head over to the wine vendor to grab a bottle or two to enjoy at home.
