If you love the sound of the ocean, stunning views, good vibes and last but not least, crayfish, then this seafood-centric event is what you need to try this month. You’ll be able to dig into West Coast delicacies prepared by local restaurants and the community 10am–4pm on Saturday 8 September at the annual Spring Crayfish Festival.
The festival coincides with the launch of the Paternoster Crayfish Wharf, located at the point of Paternoster Bay – a long stretch of pristine beach. The Paternoster Crayfish Factory site can be found on the corner of Saint Augustine and Kreefte, so pop in to enjoy some seafood straight from the source.
The Paternoster Vissery has a 60-year heritage in Paternoster and believes in the responsible and sustainable fishing of crayfish. For this reason, they adhere to a limited legal quota for the particular lobster they catch, the deep sea Cape West Coast Rock Lobster, and are actively invested in their community, aiming to educate all people about the plight of the ocean’s resources.
There will be a little of everything for everyone, so gather up the friends and family for a day of competitions, entertainment, and arts and crafts as well as a beer garden and more. You’ll be able to tuck into all the crayfish you can muster and more for just R10pp at the gate on the day.
---
If you’d like to make a weekend of it and stay a night or two in Paternoster we’ve got some great places for you to try.
If seafood isn’t your favourite, there are plenty of other top-notch places and things to eat in Paternoster.
And if you’re a big fan of seafood, here’s a great place to satisfy yourself in Cape Town.
