Raid your great grandparents’ closets for their vintage 1920s attire because this January A Touch of Madness’s monthly Electroswing dress-up party has a Roaring Twenties theme. On Saturday, 27 January, don your vintage suit or flapper dress (or any 1920s-inspired costume) and you’ll receive a free shot of something nice (you’ll have to wait and see what it is) at the door.
Expect a lively atmosphere reminiscent of this bygone time as DJ Nick Birkby will be spinning electroswing beats. Pro tip: Aim to arrive before the party starts at 9:30pm so that there’s time to grab a chilli popper burger and some craft beer, as the kitchen closes at 10pm.
WHAT IS ELECTROSWING?
Electroswing is a combination of vintage and modern swing, a jazzy style of music that is mixed with house beats. The idea behind this genre is to create a modern sound enjoyed on the dance floor, yet retaining the sound from the early swing records.
The Electroswing parties take place on every fourth Saturday of the month, but with a different theme each event.
TICKETS TO THE 1920S ELECTROSWING
Entry before 9:30pm is free and thereafter it will cost R40/p.
