Azishe! Dance Festival at Artscape Theatre

Feel the rhythm through your feet at this dance festival showcase

The Azishe! Dance Festival is back for the seventh time this year, since its inception in 1999. Jazzart Dance Theatre will host the festival at the Artscape Theatre from Thursday, 25 to Saturday, 27 February 2016. For more information, email dance@jazzart.co.za or phone +27 (0)21 410 9848.

 Azishe is the isiZulu phrase for “let it burn”, and the name of the festival is inspired by the passion, energy and drive it takes to succeed on stage. Azishe! is a platform for young performers and outreach groups to showcase their works on a professional stage.

Jazzart Dance Theatre has been around for 43 years and is regarded as one of the leading contemporary dance companies in the country. They have won numerous awards and aim to preserve the art of dance, choreography and performance. Azishe! will feature a variety of dance companies who all have one thing in common – the celebration of dance and the philosophy of Ubuntu.
