12 Apostles Hotel and Spa |
Generally accepted to be the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day sees thousands of love-struck Capetonians go gaga for their other half, their special bae and their one-and-only boo. But just as fast as Cupid’s busiest day arrives (along with an abundance of red roses and fully booked restaurants) so it ends – far too quickly for anyone’s lovin’.
Which is why the five-star Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa is extending its Valentine’s offerings to the entire month of February. This means that lovers can treat one another to the hotel’s Azure Restaurant’s Valentine’s menu any time of the month.
Throughout the month of love (excluding Sunday, 14 February 2016), the fine-dining eatery is offering couples a five-course lunch and dinner menu. Crafted by the hotel’s talented executive chef Christo Pretorius, the special Valentine’s menu promises to be extra indulgent and extra arousing (there may even be a hearty dose of aphrodisiacs involved).
In addition to the February menu, the Twelve Apostles Tea by the Sea served in the Leopard Bar and Conservatory will also take on an “I Love You” theme throughout February. Guests can expect a smorgasbord of delightful teatime treats including chocolate and banana mousse cake, lime macarons, cheesecake, chocolate verrines, eclairs, brownies and scones with whipped cream. What’s more, patrons can enjoy a glass of sparkling wine on arrival when booking for the Valentine’s weekend.
For lovebirds who enjoy something more traditional the renowned sea-facing hotel is offering guests two February 14 dining experiences in the form of the Valentine’s Day lunch buffet and the Valentine’s Day five-course dinner. Both meals include a welcome drink, live music and a red rose.
The extravagant lunch buffet includes a wide selection of freshly baked breads served with an assortment of pâtés and dips, smoked trout, an extensive DIY salad station, a large variety of vegetables, a selection of hot and cold meats – think roast chicken, beef sirloin and short ribs, lamb and pork belly – as well as a medley of seafood. For dessert guests can look forward to an array of after-dinner treats including chocolate mousse cake, red velvet cake, fruit salad, cheesecake, lemon meringue and a proudly South African cheese board, to name just a few.
The exclusive Valentine’s Day dinner includes cured farmed trout mi cuit served with horseradish cream, pickled spring onion, watercress and soybeans, as well as roasted quail served with celeriac remoulade, tender stem broccoli, roast peanut puree, lime and quail jus, and beef fillet served with Boerenkaas dauphinoise, smoked bone marrow crust, roast garlic and onion puree, baby root vegetables and barbeque jus. For dessert there is Parmigiano panna cotta served with salted peanuts, pouched pears and red wine gel, and rose and raspberry mousse served with raspberry gel, rose meringue and fresh summer berries, as well as a selection of Valentine-themed petit fours.
