For most of us, Harry was the personification of our childhood. He was the boy we grew up with – the wizard who ignited our imaginations and took us on a magical, unforgettable journey that taught us we could do anything and that happiness could be found even in the darkest of times. He was our ‘always’, and, even after all this time, we simply cannot wait for the next chapter in his adventure.
And we won’t have to wait much longer. Slytherins, Ravenclaws, Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs, it’s time to don your witchiest, most magical outfits, grab your wands, and gather at V&A Waterfront Exclusive Books for the much anticipated release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part One and Two. This is one dream of an event you’re welcome to dwell on, and the party will take place at 1am, on Sunday, 31 July 2016 – the date of Harry’s (and J.K. Rowling’s) birthday. Invites are based on a first-come-first-served basis, so fill in the RSVP form quickly!
Proving that words are, indeed, our most inexhaustible source of magic, the eighth story in the Potter series is the new West End play-turned-publication, which is based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. Fast forward nineteen years from when we saw Harry last, and our hero is now a stressed out, overworked employee at the Ministry of Magic, and a husband and father of three. As Harry wrestles with a past that refuses to stay in the past, Albus, his youngest son, grapples with a family legacy he never chose. As the past and present collide, father and son are forced to confront the truth, “sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.” The play opens in July 2016 at the Palace Theatre in London (we wish we had some handy floo powder around to get there via chimney), and the book is set for international release on 31 July 2016.
You can pre-order your copy now from the Exclusive Books website, if you haven’t already done so. Remember to dress up, bring your broomsticks (the latest Nimbus models are always admired), and solemnly swear that you’re up to no good – this is the Potter party we’ve all been waiting for.
“After all this time?”
“Always,” said Snape.
