You can play the hero in your own movie at HintHunt’s escape rooms. And because the last slot on Fridays and Saturdays is 8.30pm, it’s the perfect adrenaline kick before a birthday dinner or drinks. Plus, because of its central location at the V&A, you can do it during work hours to reinvigorate your team at a year kick-off or team building (most rooms only take an hour).

PICK A ROCKSTAR SQUAD AND COME PLAY

HintHunt made escape rooms viral in South Africa and each one is an exhilarating and immersive experience.

Teams of friends, family or colleagues are locked away in a themed room and challenged to solve riddles and puzzles in 60 minutes or less (unless you’re playing their latest room, Marble, which is 75 minutes). 

Each room tests your skills and knowledge, from puzzle-building abilities to maths and geography. You may also learn some new things, like how to work with a periscope.

NEW SUPERHERO ROOM  

The newest room, Marble, is one of the most challenging (it’s 75 minutes and needs four players minimum). In it, you and your team are civilians hired by the Marble agency to infiltrate Roach’s evil lair and stop a secret serum from being released. 

The room is “way larger and more expansive than any escape room in Africa,” says Dino Paulo, co-owner of HintHunt Africa. “We’ve had escape room enthusiasts say that it’s up to the standard of $300 000 rooms they’ve played in Las Vegas.”

OR PICK FROM 5 MORE IMMERSIVE THEMES  

Then there are the classic rooms: Shipwrecked, Torpedo, Cursed Treasure, and Old Hotel. To break out, you’ll have to recover the royal family’s sacred pearls from a lost ship; arm a torpedo in a submarine; overcome a voodoo curse; or solve the disappearance of a famous writer.

And in the Prison Break-style Escape Plan, your crew is split into two cells containing nothing but a bed, a cupboard and something about an Italian on the wall.

“Dirty socks, a tattoo, a make-shift wrench, why six?” are just some of the clues your crew will have to decipher to break free in Escape Plan.

WHY IT’S GREAT FOR TEAM BUILDING

Fun, teamwork and communication are key. Everyone plays a role and is equal – it could be the CEO crawling under the bed to find a clue, the quiet colleague shouting the game master’s hints or the intern solving the 6-digit code needed for the final escape. 

You need each other to solve the mystery, which is why HintHunt rooms are so good for bonding with your team.
