Nederburg Concert Series

Everyone needs the sound of classical music and the lovely taste of Nederburg wines

The taste of award-winning Nederburg wines go best with an evening of sophistication and music, and that is exactly why Nederburg have created their classical concert series. These concerts, held from June to October, offer guests the chance to experience excellence in classical music and in wine making simultaneously. 

Hosted at the Nederburg Manor House in Paarl, this concert series features five shows, each of which will hero a specific artist using a classical instrument. With five concerts to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice. 

CONCERTS AT THE 2016 NEDERBURG CONCERT SERIES

Nederburg Debut Concert - Sunday, 26 June
This opening concert features one of South Africa’s premier concert pianists, Megan-Geoffrey Prins. He has been studying in the US under Antonio Pompa-Baldi, and has certainly added to his classical repertoire. He will be performing selected pieces from Haydn, Brahms, Rachmaninov, and Messiaen. 

Songs from the Heart - Sunday, 31 July
Established soprano Louise Howlett and mezzo soprano Jolene McCleland will be singing songs dedicated to love and life, some new pieces and some favoured classics. Their lovely voices will be accompanied by well-known pianist Stefan Lombard and the clarinetist Visser Liebenberg. 

Two Blondes One Piano - Sunday, 28 August
This concert will see the two lovely blonde pianists Zorada Temmingh and Elna van der Merwe perform their party trick of playing a concert on one piano. This charming duo will feature classical piano duets, and some pieces composed by the artists themselves. 

Music for Harp and Flute - Sunday, 25 September
This magical concert will take you on a tour around the world and entice you with different types of music. Your tour guides for this journey will be Kobie du Plessis, a celebrated harpist, and Louisa Theart, a flautist.  

Andalucian Nights - Sunday, 30 October 
This, the final instalment of the Nederburg Concert Series, will see classical guitarist James Grace accompanied by flamenco guitarist, Saudiq Kahn take to the stage. These artists will be performing pieces composed by Albeniz, Turina de Lucia, di Meola and the Gypsy Kings.
