Dance and dinner theatre at Mavericks
High-end, choreographed burlesque cabaret
Comedy fans, listen (or laugh) up! The often-hilarious political antics in South Africa make for some timeless joke fodder, and homegrown talent Nik Rabinowitz is no stranger to throwing his spin on it. Back with a brand new one-man show, What the EFF?, Nik is set to get those belly laughs going from Monday, 23 February to Saturday, 14 March 2015 at the Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch.
Directed by Brent Palmer, this comedic offering gets its name from none other than headline-grabbing Julius Malema’s Economic Freedom Fighters political party (EFF), and the fresh-out-the-kitchen stand-up routine is set to tackle some of the outrageous moments in Mzansi’s recent past.
Nik, who refers to himself as the ‘world’s leading Xhosa-speaking Jewish comedian’, has been a staple on the local comedy scene for years, has numerous shows under his belt. Not to mention, he has appeared in locally made film productions, like fellow funnyman (and doctor) Riaad Moosa’s Material. He’s also co-authored a book, The Youngsters, and , in 2014, performed as an opening act at the Toronto South African Film Festival.
So, get your mates and gear up for a laugh with one of Cape Town’s finest. Or you could ask Nik to “pay back the money!”
