Inventive small plates best explored with a wine pairing
World-renowned DJing heavyweight Steve Aoki and his superstar special guest, Nicky Romero, will be spinning the decks and crowds at Thunder City in Cape Town on Friday, 7 December 2012. Brought to you by party pleasers Olmeca Tequila and Electric (the same guys who brought deadmau5 and Avicci to our shores), the pulsating performance offering up 12 hours of moshpit mayhem is the second show in Steve Aoki’s greater South African Tour.
The Miami-born, America-based electro house DJ and producer has received international acclaim and is known for his collaborations with other headline acts such as Afrojack, LMFAO, Armand van Helden, Tiёsto and Lil Jon. In January 2008 Aoki brought out his debut mix album ‘Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicle’ and has not looked back. His latest solo album, ‘Wonderland’ was released in January 2012 and features sounds from artists such as Travis Barker, will.i.am and Wynter Gordon. Aoki is a legendary musician as well as a burgeoning businessman (he co-owns a variety of businesses, from restaurants to a magazine called ‘Aoki’) and also founded Dim Mak Records. Loved by fans for his wild stage antics that have included cake-throwing and crowd-surfing in a canoe this mega-DJ can’t help but deliver a high-energy performance every time he takes to the stage.
Performing alongside Steve Aoki will be Dutch DJ and producer Nicky Romero. Also known for his collaborations with other masters of the music world such as Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Tiёsto, he has gained global popularity with tracks such as ‘Toulouse’, ‘Like Home’ with Nervo and Rihanna’s ‘Right Now’ featuring David Guetta. To top off these two sensational showstoppers there will also be a line-up of local DJ legends to look forward to.
