If you’re a fan of Asian cuisine then this is one event you’ll want to diarise in advance. Anyone who calls themselves a foodie will undoubtedly have heard of Delaire Graff’s beautiful Indochine Restaurant, which has established quite a name for itself both for its ambiance and its unparalleled Asian menu. From Wednesday, 15 July until Tuesday, 15 September 2015, the renowned dining establishment has a trick up its sleeve with warm, welcoming Winter Table evenings, which boast enchanting three course meals, complemented by award-winning wines to ward off the chill and keep the good times rolling.
The décor of the establishment does much to enhance the overall experience, with Andre Stead and Lionel Smit’s exquisite Swallows in Flight installation dancing above diner’s heads, and a stunning blue and copper colour palette completing the overall grandeur of the room. The restaurant specialises in creating an authentic, encompassing Asian eating experience, with tantalising tapas and traditional tea ceremonies on the menu.
The Winter Table is all about exceptional cuisine that focuses on balancing flavours and bringing together exotic ingredient combinations. Head chef Virgil Kahn has spent months perfecting the dishes on offer, which changes weekly according to available seasonal produce. Guests can anticipate an array of striking offerings, such as Jungle Quail Curry – a whole roasted quail stuffed with chicken and served with a peanut curry. The idea is for diners to be transported to the East, and for the fresh food to speak of Indochine’s culinary philosophy and sophistication.
With three scrumptious courses to look forward to, along with a host of the estate’s best-known vintages, the Winter Table experience promises to be a night out to remember and soon-to-be regular fixture on the Capetonian foodie’s hot spot list.
