One of London’s most legendary and longest-running clubs is coming to Cape Town. For one night only.
At the centre of London’s edgy club scene, with top house, techno, drum and bass, and breakbeat artists, is fabric. The club has attracted people from around the world for the past 25 years, and for the first time, Cape Town will experience it too. On Friday 24 January 2025 when fabric takes over Mødular. Here’s why you can’t miss it.
We’re not exaggerating when we say fabric is the world’s best club: DJ Magazine has awarded it the World’s Number 1 Club title twice.
“It’s well known for being a top techno club, and it’s also incubated the beat scene in London, giving artists huge exposure across different genres,” says Richard Marshall, South African DJ and founder of Sub Sahara, the events and African electronic radio platform bringing fabric to South Africa.
If anyone knows about top-notch clubbing it’s Richard. He’s performed at Pikes in Ibiza, Members Only in New York (where he played for eight hours straight to a packed rooftop), Crowd Control in Bucharest, and more.
“We want to deliver an experience that many South Africans wouldn’t be able to have, and that’s fabric for one night,” he adds.

An edgy underground club in the heart of the CBD is hosting fabric. Mødular is renowned for being the perfect place to shut your eyes and dance.
Similar to fabric, it’s a no-frills, no-fuss nightclub with dark dancefloors and a great sound system. “You can listen to music you can’t Shazam and you’ve never heard before,” says Richard.
The space gives people a chance to experiment and play music that breaks away from the norm. With three rooms: Modular, Lido, and Hexagon will each offer a different genre to explore.
The exposed brick walls and dark, moody vibe set the scene for a gritty and serious clubbing experience.

Ben UFO, famous for his unique and experimental dance music, will headline the event. A pioneer of broken house and techno, he’s curated mixes for BBC Radio and fabric. “Ben’s one of the most dynamic, unclassifiable DJs that’s ever walked the earth,” says Richard.
Joining him are Axel Boman, the Swedish DJ celebrated for his extraordinary house music, and Ralph Lawson, a master in underground electronic dance music. He’s best known for his 20/20 Vision record label and productions, and has been a regular at fabric since its opening.
“Ralph is considered one of the godfathers of the true electro genre,” he adds.

Mixes from Ben UFO, Axel Boman and Ralph Lawson to give you a taste:
Expect a mix of genres from local DJs too. There’s Amy Mauritz, with her underground dance sounds, Niskerone, an icon in bass music, and Phijos mixing bass, italo, jungle, and R&B.
Plus sets by Athi Maq, with her blend of bass and house, Cody Losper (DJ and founder of Slow Down, refreshing electronic and dance events) and more.
The event is great exposure for our local DJs. “Their names will be shared with a worldwide network of electronic music fanatics,” says Richard.
