Treat yourself to advanced beauty and skincare treatments
When co-founder Sophia Kardar decided to pursue her passion for beauty, she started off with an idea for a nail bar. This simple idea quickly progressed to the concept of effective machine-based treatments with a special focus on natural beauty, assisted by new-age technology.
Partners Sophia and Airo Huang both had an interest in the beauty industry, and with a business and finance background they knew that they were onto something when they decided to sit down and re-look what they could offer beauty fanatics in Cape Town. “The point of this was for our clients to spend less time on a treatment, but receive the same or better results”, explains Sophia. “We thought of laser hair removal and other treatments that most parlours don’t offer”.
This includes various brow, lash, hands and feet treatments, massages, hair removal methods including waxing, sugaring and laser treatments, as well as body contouring and fat reduction treatments, skin and pigmentation treatments, semi-permanent make-up and tattoo removal. Ibeauty makes use of iS Clinical, Lamelle and Regima products to accentuate the best version of you.
Also on the menu, is the beauty industry’s best kept secret: sugaring. This is an all-natural Persian hair removal technique which dates back to 1900 BC. As opposed to waxing, which not only sticks to the hair, but to the skin as well, sugar tends to sticks to the hair only, and removes dead skin cells, rejuvenating the skin. The sugar paste is applied at body temperature, minimizing the risk of burns, and because sugar itself is hypoallergenic, the risk of skin rashes and irritations are minimal.
Ibeauty takes special care in ensuring that clients not only look and feel good, but that the products used in each treatment is good for you. With a special focus on non-invasive products, the commonly used acrylic nails and injective beauty treatments are not on offer at ibeauty due to its high levels of chemical infusion.
“The theme is natural beauty, which is where the name ibeauty came from… I am Beautiful. It’s all about being as natural as possible”, says Sophia with conviction.
Apart from ibeauty’s offering of advanced beauty treatments, ibeauty is beautifully designed, with a modern, polished look, giving you a sense of security when it comes to beauty needs. Expect a curvaceous design of the interior, featuring a pure white setting, with comfortable custom-designed seating by business partners Sophia and Airo. The beauty parlour also offers top-notch client care, with beauty therapists who are genuinely interested in your aesthetic well-being. “People who come here have a very personal experience with the beauty therapists as opposed to just getting your nails done”, says Sophia as she glances over and smiles with one of ibeauty’s beauty therapists. This is clearly something that both employee and employer are proud of.
Every little (or large) treatment at ibeauty is done with such care and precision. As beauty therapist Crystal Saunders readies herself for my manicure, she immediately switches roles and opens with “now it’s my time to ask the questions”, while chuckling under her breath. She starts off asking about my background with having manicures, the colours I usually go for, and gives me little nail hacks for the future. At this point I completely understood Sophia’s comment about ibeauty’s engaging staff. The manicure consisted of cuticle maintenance, buffing, filing and Gelish nail treatment, topped with some cuticle oil at the end.
Tip: Try the cinnamon vanilla manicure which includes a cuticle push-back, buffing, filing, sugar cinnamon exfoliation, which aids in removing dead skin cells, and a massage cream which consists of cinnamon and vanilla, “giving it a milk tart effect”, chuckles Crystal.
