They’ve done it again. Wrigley’s 5 Gum, the brand that brought Two Door Cinema Club and A-Trak to local shores, is once more spoiling South Africans with FREE high-profile concerts. This time around, the #5Gum Experience has confirmed that UK indie-rock group The Kooks will be headlining two shows: one in Johannesburg on Friday, 19 April 2013 and one in Cape Town on Saturday, 20 April 2013.
The venues for both the gigs will only be announced closer to the time to keep things ultra secret.
As was the case with the previous 5 Gum Experience shows, tickets were not on sale, and instead, fans had apply for them via the 5 Gum SA Facebook page. As of Tuesday, 16 April 2013, the organisers were still contacting lucky golden e-ticket holders; so, if you haven't yet received a winning email, keep holding thumbs. 5Gum also stresses that the re-selling of tickets is not condoned (since they were free!), and holders of resold tickets may be denied access at the gate.
The Kooks first shot to fame with their 2006 debut album, “Inside In/Inside Out”, which featured top hits like ‘Naïve’ and ‘She Moves in Her Own Way’. The album went quadruple platinum and, in 2008, the band followed up with a second album called “Konk”, which debuted at number one in the UK. The Kooks’ third album, “Junk of the Heart”, was released in September 2011 and solidified the band’s position as international indie-rock favourites.
How to get tickets for 5 Gum’sThe Kooks Concert in Cape Town
Unfortunately, it’s no longer possible to enter to receive tickets to the Kooks concert in Cape Town. As of Tuesday, 16 April 2013, the organisers were still busy contacting the randomly selected winners with direction regarding retrieving tickets. So, if you haven’t received an email yet, keep holding thumbs.
Good luck!
