Finding the right kids’ birthday party venue can be tricky. We’ve rounded up 15+ indoor, outdoor, small, large and affordable picks for kids between one and 14. There’s the largest inflatable obstacle course in Africa, candle making, biking, skating, strawberry picking, mountain scooter riding, an escape room and more.
For the kids 10 and older, channel your inner F1 drivers at Tyger Valley Centre’s latest addition: Extreme Go Karting. Decorated with flags from around the world, the track layout is classic with chequered flags at the starting point. For the supporters there’s tables and benches on the sidelines.

Hours: Tuesday to Saturday (and public holidays), 10am to 8pm; Sunday, 10am to 7pm

Let the kids get creative at Candle Avenue with candle making workshops. There’s a wide variety of themes to choose from like Alice in Wonderland, army, under the sea, and Frozen. An adult catering station is set up for the parents. For teens’ parties, alternative activities can be arranged like mug painting and pillow designing.

You can either hire out this skate park, or for a private space, the birthday room. The Shred has different packages such as Cheap Skate, Piggy in the Middle, or The Full Monty. At this family restaurant, right on Onrus Lagoon, kids can build their own waffles. The toppings are almost endless, from jelly tots and Smarties to jelly beans and Bar One pieces. There’s also loaded hotdogs and signature waffles at The Waffle Shack.

Trail’s End is packed with so many activities, even parents will join in on the birthday fun. There’s ample outdoor space, where kids can run around and ride bikes on the pump track (rentals are available). There’s also quad bike tours, a climbing wall, swimming pool and onsite restaurant for catering at Trail’s End Bike Hotel.

You might know Redberry Farm for its strawberry picking, but did you know there’s an ice cream and pizza parlour too? You can choose between three party packages. Plus you can also customise various activities based on your budget.

This outdoor bike track is on the same estate as Kristen’s Kick Ass Ice Cream, Chardonnay Deli and Ember & Oak. Parents can bring their own drinks, snacks, cakes and decor, and it offers a two hour bike session. If kids don’t have their own bikes, rentals are also available at the Constantia Uitsig Bike Park.

In HintHunt’s latest escape room, you have 75 minutes to work through puzzles and clues to defeat a supervillain and save the city. This escape room feels like it’s straight out of a Marvel movie. Take a fun, wild downhill ride at Middelvlei Wine Farm on eco-friendly Monster Mountain Scooters. Kids, friends and family can all challenge each other as they zoot down the mountain slopes or through vineyards on gravity scooters at Scootours.

This is the largest inflatable obstacle course in Africa, says Total Ninja. Based on the popular TV show Ninja Warrior, it's a great place for the kids to climb, swing and jump. Higgeldy Piggeldy Farm Yard is one of Imhoff Farm’s best attractions. Kids and parents can pet and feed animals like cows, sheep, goats, pigs, emus, rabbits and more. Parties are hosted in the farmyard with undercover parking available, and venue hire starts from just R50 per hour.

Kids can have endless indoor fun at this play park in Somerset West. The birthday child gets one hour free on their special day and it’s no cost for kids under one. There are three party venues to choose from, and it is essential to bring along IDs or birth certificates when visiting Wild Wild West.

On The Roll, is a mobile roller skating rental trailer that comes to a venue of your choice, fully equipped with skates and helmets.
