Get over the midweek hump with a ...
Easy spot for team building, midweek date night, & more
Some days are just tapas days – they simply call for delicious, salty Asian comfort food. At Cape Town-based restaurant Manga, those days are Thursdays, when a 2-for-1 special applies all tapas on their food menu.
Opened in late 2016, this stylish oceanfront eatery in Mouille Point is the brainchild of the same team that launched Sotano, HQ, the late Caveau and Strolla. Noticing that the area lacked a quality Asian restaurant, they opened Manga – the name refers to the style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels – in the space where Quaglino’s once was, and gave Eastern and Pacific cuisine a playful, contemporary edge.
The tapas dishes on special usually go for between R45 and R95, so receiving two for the price of one is quite a steal. Tapas range from a simple starter of edamame beans, or soy-roasted nuts. Bigger dishes include their poke bowl (consisting of Sriracha-soy tuna,, sushi rice, macadamia nuts, red online, pickled ginger and avo), or a tuna carpaccio with orange, cucumber, mandarin dressing and onion crisps.
As you’re saving the price of a meal, we recommend you splurge on a dessert like the lemongrass crème brûlée or green tea cheesecake. Otherwise, on the drinks side, you can pair your stir-fry with craft beer, wine, a cocktail or a carafe of saké. If you visit between 5pm and 7pm, you can toast to the view of the Mouille Point promenade and Atlantic Ocean with 2-for-1 Cult wine or Striped Horse artisan beer (the restaurant is encased in glass so diners have a clear view of the seaside surrounds).
Their menu is vast and delicious all-round, if this isn't your thing - maybe some sushi will saffice? Don't forget about their 2-for1 Sushi Tuesdays too!
