MUSEUM NIGHT: Free Entry and 10 Museums PLUS Win an Exclusive Tour

For five hours only, museums across Cape Town will stay open after hours for free

Cape Town CBD has an excellent selection of museums, and for one night only you can take advantage of them to explore art, history and culture with Museum Night.

Now in its third year, this multi-institution cultural experience returns on Thursday 21 February 2019.

THE MUSEUM COMES ALIVE
Besides the usual museum attractions, attendees can look forward to performances, music, food and a unique vibe while checking out the museums in a new light after dark. The full programme of events must still be finalised, so keep your eyes peeled for updates.

WHICH MUSEUMS ARE PARTICIPATING
The museums and performance sites participating in this year's Museum Night are:

  • Iziko South African National Gallery
  • Iziko South African Museum + Planetarium
  • South African Jewish Museum
  • District Six Museum
  • Iziko Slave Lodge
  • Cape Town Holocaust Centre
  • The Old Granary
  • SA Sendinggestig Museum
  • A4 Arts Foundation
  • Muller’s Museum

WIN AN EXCLUSIVE TOUR
The Iziko Social History Centre, the world-class museum facility that houses the reserve Social History collections and archives, won’t be open on the evening, but if you support Museum Night’s crowdfunding campaign you can experience an exclusive tour. Help them hit their R10k goal here.

GETTING INTO THE MUSEUMS
No tickets or bookings required – just show up and take advantage of the chance to appreciate South African history, art and culture.
