Final results for cities in the Monopoly World Edition to be featured in our Editor's Picks Newsletter
From 22 January 2008 at midnight GMT/Universal Time, MONOPOLY fans around the world began voting for their favourite City to be featured on Monopoly World.Cape Town was certainly one of the best contenders of the cities vying for a position on the most famous board game in the world, being in third position when the leader board was made invisible in the last week of voting.
The Results and final cities of the voting for The Monopoly World Edition are not released until later this year (August) and we're on the list to hear about it first!
Voting continues for the top 20 Wild Card Cities to select the last two cities on the board. Johannesburg is in the race for this still, so vote for the city without the mountain!
Since 1935, more than 250 million copies of the MONOPOLY game have been sold in 103 countries and 37 languages. More than 200 different editions of the game have been published, but the most popular continues to be the classic "Number Nine."
Affectionately known by its original product number, "Number Nine" is based on the streets of Atlantic City and is nearly identical to Charles Darrow's original submission to Parker Brothers.
