Cape Town - You've got to Live it! Love it! LOUDER!

Pump up your Capetonian pride ahead of the 2010 World Cup

Cape Town Tourism is urging all Capetonians to Live It! Love It! LOUDER! in the months leading up to the 2010 World Cup. The City is preparing its stadium and systems with two test events at the new Cape Town stadium this January.

The first in event – a football match between Ajax and Santos – took place on 23 January 2010. Three days ahead of the big game all 20 000 tickets were sold out. Ticket prices were capped at R30–50 to afford many Capetonians the opportunity of experiencing this historic opportunity. Cape Town Tourism was pleased to see our enthusiasm for the inaugural event.

The second test event will see the stadium welcome rugby to the stadium. Tickets have gone on sale for the Cape Town Stadium Rugby Festival on February 6 where the Vodacom Stormers Super 14 franchise take on a Boland Invitational XV in the first full rugby match to be played at the magnificent new R4.5-billion venue. Match tickets are priced at R50 and R80. Parking tickets are available at R20 at Computicket outlets. The cost for the Castle Cape Town 10s Rugby Festival weekender package is R120 per ticket, available also at Computicket.

There will also be plenty of other entertainment at the event, organised by Stadium Operators SAIL STADEFRANCE and hosted by the City of Cape Town.

In true Afro style, Cape Town Tourism’s Live it! Love it! LOUDER! citizen activation campaign urges all Capetonians to get sports mad as the city gears up to welcome the world in June. The Live It! Love It! LOUDER! campaign was introduced to the public at the ‘One Year to Kick Off’ event held on 15 June 2009. The Live It! Love It! LOUDER! ambassadors have since been a loud, colourful force at many Cape Town events – teaching people to blow vuvuzelas and do the diski dance.

Says Cape Town Tourism’s Marketing Destination Manager, Lianne Burton, “We want the citizens of Cape Town to become irrepressibly filled with pride, excitement and a real willingness to support the biggest sporting event in South Africa’s history.” The campaign speaks to Cape Town Tourism’s mantra Live Cape Town! Love Cape Town! by turning up the volume to add more noise, more fun and more colour to Cape Town’s warmest welcome ever.

You can Live it! Love it! LOUDER! by:

• Blowing your vuvuzela
• Sporting a makaraba
• Learning the Diski dance
• Backing Bafana Bafana
• Learning the words to South Africa’s national anthem
• Wearing Live it! Love it! LOUDER! apparel to show your support
• Getting your ticket to a World Cup match
• Being a proud and welcoming host
