Local SA Times for ALL 2019 Rugby World Cup Fixtures (including the final)

When's the next match? What time are the Springboks playing?

The Springboks won the Rugby World Cup. Find out where you need to be for the 2023 Springboks World Cup Trophy Tour in Cape Town.

The Rugby World Cup, being played in Japan, kicks off Friday the 20 September 2019. Start preparing now with our comprehensive Rugby World Cup fixtures list below.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Springboks were drawn in Pool B and kick off their campaign with an anticipated fireworks display against old foe and current world champions, the All Blacks.

They then move on to games against African neighbours Namibia, the azzurri of Italy and what should be a tough game against Canada.

Should they make it out of the pool, South Africa will play either Ireland, Scotland, Samoa, Russia or Japan.

HOW ARE THE BOKKE LOOKING
Our national rugby team won the Rugby Championships, their fourth Southern Hemisphere rugby title and their first in the reformatted, five team version. It was also their first Southern Hemisphere title since winning the old Tri Nations in 2009.

They finished the tournament unbeaten, winning two and drawing one (against New Zealand).

The Rugby Championship tournament was however shortened this year to accomodate the World Cup, which gave the Springboks a simpler route to winning it. But they will still be quietly confident going into the World Cup: knowing that they were more consistent than two other major world rugby teams, and carrying the form that won them the Rugby Championship into the tournament.

FUN FACT:
Everytime South Africa has played the current world champions in the pool phase, they’ve gone on to win the tournament.
