As of Wednesday, 22 June 2022, South Africans no longer need to wear masks indoors in public settings or public transport. Health Minister Joe Phaahla repealed three major regulations by notice in the Government Gazette.
Regulation 16B refers to the "regulation of gatherings to contain the spread of COVID-19" and Regulation 16C refers to the "regulation of persons entering the country to contain the spread of COVID-19". These regulations have now been scrapped entirely, meaning travellers no longer need to provide vaccination status, negative PCR test or proof of recovery from Covid-19 when entering the country.

You are allowed to present yourself at a vaccine sites without an appointment, however pre-registration will help speed up the process:
You will need internet access on a smartphone, tablet or computer.
You can apply to register online via vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za
You can use your South African ID number, passport number or refugee number.

There is an app available that uses no data to download and alert you if you have been exposed to the virus. Everyone with a smartphone can download the contact tracing app.
