Launches 10 April 2024, with Vodacom deals
Last updated: Tuesday, 2 April 2024
When the new Xiaomi smartphone launches on 10 April 2024, it will give the pricey top-tier phones a good run for their money. The slim Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 series is beautifully designed, with a lighter and brighter screen display (great for gaming), and 200MP cameras for content creation. Plus it charges from 0 to 100% in 19 minutes flat! Here’s a teaser of what you can expect.

The new series will feature three models: The entry-level Redmi Note 13 in midnight black or ice blue. The two pro models, Redmi Note 13 Pro and Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G, come in black, and moonlight white, respectively.
All three models have the same screen and battery size, and the pro models have a 200MP main camera and faster processors and charging. The Redmi Note Pro+ 5G also has faster connectivity, a curved back, and curved display (for adding depth to visuals).

For the features that you get (and price), this phone easily competes with some of the bigger, more expensive brands.
All three phones have a huge 5 000 mAh battery (the Samsung Galaxy S24’s has 4000 mAh) that lasts a day or more (which solves your load shedding woes), thanks to the powerful fast-charging processors.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro can charge to 100% in just 45 minutes while the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G cuts that down to 19 minutes.

Performance-wise, the series excels. From multitasking to gaming, the incredibly high refresh rate of 120Hz (double the standard 60Hz of screens like the iPhone 11 Pro), will make for smooth swiping, scrolling and searching.
Its AMOLED screens are thinner, lighter and brighter than conventional LED models. It produces better images, vivid colours and sharp contrasts.
Content creators will love the IP68 dust and water resistance feature. It’s water resistant to a maximum of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes, and protected from dust without the need for a case.
Beyond the main cameras, the phones offer additional lenses like ultra-wide, macro and depth sensors for versatile shooting, selfies and video calls. And no matter how many selfies you take, you’ll struggle to fill the huge 512GB of onboard storage. Paired with 12GB of RAM and MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra, it’s a powerful machine.

Vodacom is offering deals and bundles. You can pick up the Redmi Note 13 for R329 per month, the Redmi Note 13 Pro for R429 or the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G for R699 per month.
All three of these contracts are over a 36-month period, but you’ll need to move fast to snag one as stock is limited.
